2024 Hotel Boat Cruises on the waterways of Wales & the North West
The canals of North West England and North Wales were at the heart of the Industrial Revolution 200 years ago but now they include some of the most popular holiday cruising canals. These are mostly narrow canals so narrowboat hotelboats.
The Shropshire Union Canal and the Trent and Mersey Canal climb southwards from the Cheshire Plain through pleasant countryside with lots of locks. The 'Shroppie' also leads you into Roman Chester alongside it's ancient walls, while the 'T&M' takes you beneath the hills through the spooky Harecastle Tunnel. The famous Llangollen Canal heads uphill through deserted pastures and the 'Shropshire Lake District' into the Welsh hills, crossing the amazing World Heritage aqueducts at Chirk and Pontcysyllte.
